There is one thing that gives Karachi-ites more happiness than rain – a brand new eatery! People have gone on record to say that the only entertainment option in this city is eating out. While cinema owners are trying to change that, cafes, dhaabas, and restaurants aren’t going to lose their stardom any time soon. Whether it’s a new Chinese, Lebanese or Italian restaurant, the excitement of trying a new cuisine is always at its peak!
Burridos opened its doors a few days before Ramazan this year on Bukhari Commercial. If you love Mexican food, then this is the place to be! On the other hand, if you’ve never tried Mexican food, then here is your chance to get acquainted to it.
As the name suggests, Burridos specializes in different types of burritos. What is a burrito? These are sandwich wraps in different flavors, served with fries and dips on the side. Join us as we try Burridos for the first time!
Where will I find Burridos?
It is situated right next to Cloud Naan, which is in the same lane as all these popular chai dhaabas like Chai Shai and Chai Wala. The open air set-up – where you can enjoy the Karachi breeze in the evenings with a cup of tea in one hand and a Burrito in another – is hard to miss with its bright green decor.
How’s the food?
I loved it! I am a person who loves eating sandwiches or anything wrapped up in a piece of bread so there’s that, but I’m sure my taste buds can tell when something is exceptionally good. We got to try three different burritos and some drinks to go with our meal!
First up, we tried the Original Burrido in chicken (you can also ask for beef), which consisted of chicken, Mexican rice, cheese, lettuce, and beans all wrapped up in a tortilla! It was juicy and pretty messy to eat, but it was full of flavor. The wrap was cut into two halves and was extremely filling for one person. But it wasn’t our favourite.
The second one that we tried was their Mediterranean Burrido. This one became a collective favorite for all of us. The wrap consisted of sautéed chicken, veggies, thousand-island sauce and lots of cheese! It was creamy, juicy and absolutely delicious.
The last one that we tried was the Steak & Cheese Burrido which was a beef tenderloin wrap consisting of onions, mushrooms, and lots of cheese. As messy as this was to eat, it was as rich in flavor and extremely satisfying.
They served the burritos with fries, but we were disappointed when the plate arrived because we could count the number of fries on the plate (they were eight). We couldn’t help ourselves and asked the waiter if we could get some more fries. Luckily, he understood our plight and got us an entire plate of fries for the table on the house!
Speaking of drinks, we ordered their lemon iced tea because it was a humid night and we needed something refreshing to cool us down! The drin sure was refreshing but a bit on the sweeter side.
I’d definitely visit Burridos for their Mediterranean burrito and consumer friendly prices. I love sitting in the outdoor on cool Karachi nights, but if you love your air conditioned rooms a bit too much then stick to the famous E-street or Zamzama.
