The first day of fashion week was lacklustre to say the least. After the fiasco that was day one it’s easy to say that our expectations for day two were at an all-time low; but then Sanam Chaudhry happened. Not only was her collection (aptly titled Pandora) a breath of fresh air, it really embodied the true essence of fashion week: innovation.
Her collection transported us back to the 80’s while keeping today’s revolutionary feminist energy intact. We instantly lapped up the “Power Couture” because it emanated power and was couture at its relative best.
Models with a clean cut beauty look – simple red lip and slicked back hair – let the clothes do all the talking. Metallic-y jamawar and raw silk fabrics were stitched beautifully in starkly masculine and liltingly feminine lines. The jackets were stylish and formidable, the wide legged pants demanded attention – there was nothing about this collection that did not scream: “Look at me, I have arrived!”
