Here’s Who and What We Missed At The LSA

Lux please bring them back!

The Lux Style Awards are often called the Oscars of Pakistan. It is the only platform that brings film, music, drama, and the fashion industry together – but what if almost half the entertainment industry fails to show up? You sit back and enjoy the show anyway, because you can’t help but enjoy Osman Khalid Butt’s witty one-liners!

After having a ball of a time, it’s essential to have a moment of silence for those who missed the show.

Here’s a list of what and who we missed at the LSA.

Hamza Ali Abbasi and his black shalwar kameez

Osman Khalid Butt gave him multiple spots in his script, but the controversial actor was nowhere to be seen. When we contacted him he told us that he’s busy shooting. Since Bilal Lashari – the director for Maula Jatt – was at the LSA, we assume he must be busy shooting with Haseeb Hassan for Parwaaz Hai Junoon.

According to Butt, “Hamza tabdeeli lenay China gaye hain kyunke wahaan sasti milti hai!”

Let’s see how that goes.

Saba Qamar

This starlet was making headlines before the show by announcing that she won’t be attending the event. But that didn’t stop us or Osman Khalid Butt from missing her.

“Now a moment of silence for those who didn’t make it to the nominations. Hashtag Hindi Medium,” he said and the audience cringed in unison on behalf of Saba Qamar, who is ready for her big Bollywood debut with…Hindi Medium.

The lead cast of Dobara Phir Se

Hareem Farooq and Adeel Hussain are not huge fans of award ceremonies and their absence in this year’s edition proved that. Yesterday, Farooq was spotted sporting a ‘It look’ for L’Oreal Professional’s marketing campaign so we’re guessing she was busy with that. She’s also working on her new film titled Parchi. Hussain on the other had refrained to comment when we reached out to him.

Actor In Law’s team

Not a SINGLE member of this team made it to the awards! Mehwish Hayat, Fahad Mustafa, and Nabeel Qureshi, none of them were spotted. A reliable source confirmed to us that they’re busy making Namaloom Afraad 2.

Mann Mayal’s team

The team might have jointly ruled the night with Udaari, but the director, Haseeb Hassan, and half of the cast – Hamza Ali Abbasi, Aisha Khan, and Talat Hussain – couldn’t make it. We know that Haseeb and Hamza are shooting their upcoming film, Parwaz Hai Junoon, but what kept Aisha Khan at bay?

The new Lux girl, Maya Ali, however, was there and collected the Best Actress award.

Aisha Khan

She won the Best Supporting Actress award last year for Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, but even that couldn’t persuade her to make Lux Style Awards a permanent part of her life.

“Cause they ‘re biased!! Always have been… always will be….besides I’m not one who ever attended them…last year is the ONLY time I did. A lot of peer pressure was involved in getting me there. I got the award… great…but it’s not about me getting awards or not, it’s just the fact that so many undeserving people get them year after year,” Khan explained why she decided not to attend the LSA. “You can’t have a jury made out of colleagues and competitors… Of course everyone is going to be biased and will take out a personal grudge!!!!”

Dil Lagi’s team

We know that’s a lot of teams missing and we wonder why and how that happened?

The director, Nadeem Baig, was there to collect the Best Play award, but where were Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat, and Saba Hamid? Is that because they knew that Mann Mayal and Udaari were going to give them a tough time.

We, for one, enjoyed Dil Lagi more than the sob-fest that was Mann Mayal. And kind of loved it when Nauman Ejaz replied, “Ab itna frank hone ki zaroorat nahi hai”, when someone yelled, “Udaari”, right before the winner for Best Drama Serial was announced.

Sohai Ali Abro’s performance

And here we were beginning to think that Abro’s dance is as pertinent to award shows as Faizan Haqque’s “voice of God,” in the background. She was nowhere to be seen and we thoroughly missed her dance moves last night!

Tom Parker’s photo booth

Or any photo booth for that matter!

Last year we saw our celebrities glitzing in the edgy space as Tom Parker took some amazing photos, but this year the only space where the celebs got photographed was the red carpet. So don’t kill yourself if the sponsors stare at you from every single image of the event.

Fawad Khan’s grand entrance

In fact, he didn’t make an entrance at all, let alone a grand one. Khan, who hosted the previous two editions, couldn’t make it to the ceremony. It maybe because he had last year’s LSAs in mind which began at 12 am!

Khan might be a little disgruntled but we’re more than happy for not being forced to stay up till the ungodly hours of dawn.
