Here’s What Your Fave Bollywood Celebs Wore This Diwali

Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor stole the show

Compare Bollywood Diwali bashes with their uber glam award ceremonies and no one will care to bat an eye. The Best Dressed listicles come out shortly after the festival, and a healthy stream of ‘who snubbed whom’ gossip finds its way to the headlines. See the similarities? Some hosts even roll out the red carpet and install flash lights. Moreover, truckloads of pap shows up, even though it is a public holiday! Meanwhile Bollywood celebrities do what they do best: put on their glitziest designer wear!

The slight twist in the tale is that chic gowns and dress are replaced with flashy eastern wear.

Apart from seeing your favourite celebrities at their desi best, Diwali is the best time to seek style inspiration for the ever impending shaadi season!

So, get inspired.

I think we can all agree that no one does desi quite like Kareena Kapoor! We can’t decide if it’s the effortless way in which she carries the dupatta or it’s her heavily kohl-ed eyes that complement eastern wear so well. We just know that Kareena Kapoor Khan rocked every single one of her Diwali looks – be it the Tarun Tahiliani embellished sharara above or the printed gota shalwar kameez below.

Don’t get surprised if you see a million OOTDs inspired by this ensemble bombarding your Instagram timeline in the near future.

Deepika Padukone, in Anamika Khanna, was a close contender. Fortunately (for her), she’s got the body of a goddess (which complemented the ivory organza sari) and an amazing team of stylists.

Alia Bhatt is usually spotted in casual tees and ripped denims, so when we saw her all decked up in a lime green Manish Malhotra lehnga choli and gajras, it was a sight to behold.

Sonam Kapoor clearly has a set mantra for Diwali bashes: Either dress like a Mughal princess or don’t dress at all!

Look at these two gorgeous Kapoor beauties in all their eastern glory.

Jacqueline Fernandez opted for an all-out red ensemble by…wait for it: Faraz Manan! Yes, our every own Pakistani designer. While, unfortunate as it is, she didn’t look the best version of herself, she was rocking the hottest trend on the block!

Another shade that’s trending BIG TIME this season is sunshine yellow and Tanisha Mukerjee might have compromised on her acting career, but she ain’t compromising on her style game.

Then there’s Parineeti Chopra who went for a completely understated look in a Payal Singhal sharara and cropped choli.

Mira Rajput’s style game is always on point, but she fails us this Diwali.

The Pataudi clan looked spot on this Diwali. One glance at the new mommy on the block, Soha Ali Khan, and we were  sold (all over again) for the very predictable colour combination – fuchsia printed lehnga choli and a lime green dupatta.

Kiran Rao’s style may not be your cup of tea, but it certainly is ours. The white loose-fit cotton sari with a statement necklace can look super cool if done right.
