With the new ban on Bollywood films we only have Pakistani films to choose from in the cinemas. But have no fear! We have the update on a new movie releasing on November 4th by the very unique name Jeewan Hathi from the fabulous team that brought you Zinda Bhaag.
The film is directed by talented duo Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi and written by Fasih Bari Khan. The cast of the film includes Samiya Mumtaz, Hina Dilpazeer, Naseeruddin Shah, Saife Hassan, Farad Khan and Adnan Jaffer. Even though, this was the press conference for the film the main director Meenu Gaur was not in attendance!
The film was produced under the “Zeal for Unity” banner by Shailja Kejriwal and co-produced by Vikas Sharma and was supposed to release in both India and Pakistan. The producers had earlier called the film “historic” in it’s cultural significance towards improving the India-Pakistan relationship, but at the press conference just weeks ahead of cinematic release the film makers played down it’s Indian ties.
Making light of the elephant in the room the film makers said that they were confident that the conflict will blow over in a few weeks and is nothing to worry about as tensions like these have happened in the past between the two countries.
No one was surprised that Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah was also unable to attend the event due to the current tension between India and Pakistan. Shah earlier worked with the directors in their film Zinda Bhaag and now stars in the dark comedy about television ratings.
Meanwhile Hina Dilpazeer was late and not too friendly to the media when answering questions. I think we like her better when she’s just Momo!
