The International Woolmark Prize is the world’s most prestigious award for up and coming designers. Woolmark celebrates outstanding fashion from around the world by nominating 65 designers globally, and this year two Pakistani women have made the cut. Pakistan Fashion Design Council – the official nominating body in Pakistan – has nominated Khadija Rahman, the Creative Director of Generation and designer Zonia Anwaar to come up with one look in Merino wool and a six-piece capsule concept to impress the judges.

Anwaar is lucky enough to be nominated second time in a row. Last year she participated along with Saira Shakira, Republic Womenswear, and the House of Arsalan Iqbal.
Khadija Rahman, however, will debut this year and we’re excited to say the least. She’s been impressing us with her designs ever since she became the Creative Head for Generation.
It has been an exciting year for Rahman as she won the award for Achievement In Fashion Design Pret at the Lux Style Awards.
According to International Woolmark Prize’ website, “Each of the recently announced 65 global nominees competing in this year’s regional events will receive AU$2000 to assist in the development of their submission piece, ahead of the regional finals to be held in Dubai, London, Milan, New York, Seoul and Sydney throughout July. In addition, each regional menswear and womenswear winner will this year receive AU$70,000 to go towards their final collection. Prize money for the two eventual winners has also increased, with the global menswear and womenswear winner each receiving AU$200,000.”
Two thumbs up for our ladies who’re all set to represent us at the coveted platform which once hosted the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent.
