Mahira Khan has had her fair share of sartorial misses, but we don’t hold that against her. She’s open to taking risks and always owns what she wears. She seems like a woman who loves fashion and experimenting with colour, texture and unique styles, choosing to wear new and upcoming designers as much as old established ones, and pairing high-end ensembles with rustic Afghan jewellery from itwaar bazaar.
At the end of the day, Khan can show up wearing an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and carry it with as much ease and grace as she does a sari.
Here are her 10 looks that we can’t help but love:
Sweet and simple
We appreciate the fact that Mahira feels equally at home in a button down and jeans as she does in a ball gown with an up do. Here she dresses up her look with nude heels and bold red lip.
Out with the old
Mahira Khan embraced the very talented Mahgul Farooq soon after the designer launched herself. This short embroidered kameez with flared pants became one of the Farooq’s most sought after designs after Khan made an appearance in it.
No one does simple better than Mahira. This colourful sari, red lips and simple up do simply makes her shine!
Making a statement
On oversized blazer, statement necklace and simple jeans always does the trick.
Eastern chic at its best – Mahira shines in a Saniya Maskatiya embellished koti with a simple cream shalwar kameez and traditional earrings. The entire nation felt proud when Mahira made an appearance in front of Indian press looking so glamorously Pakistani!
This unique Feeha Jamshed sari drew mixed feelings. The colours are an uncommon mix and the embroidery fun and child-like. We fell in love with it. Although, we do wish she had paired it with different accessories.
Bold and bright colours lift Mahira’s features and compliment her light skin tone. This Saniya Maskatiya sari is another masterpiece, with cut-out origami-esque sleeves we couldn’t take our eyes off!
Again, red is another bright colour that beautifully pops against Mahira’s skin tone. Here the entire look just comes together beautifully – black nail polish, textured lob and choker to go with that bold red suit.
Don’t be fooled
This pink dress by Muse is a memorable one because Mahira wore it right at a time when big bold prints were at their peak. The dress with bright neon accents was a mix of feminine glamour and that look-at-me-I’m-a-star appeal. Pairing it with yet another bold red lip was just the icing on the cake.
Best of both worlds
Khan is popularly known as designer Feeha Jamshed’s muse, and for a good reason. Although this might not be a red carpet look, it is certainly one of our all-time favourites. Mahira manages to perfectly mix eastern grandeur with the rich, velvet embroidered coat, atop a subdued nude chic western long dress. Pure perfection!
