Who knew things could change this drastically in such a short period? Last year Fawad Khan and Deepika Padukone stopped the show for Manish Malhotra, but this year FK and Padukone were nowhere in the picture. But we are not complaining. Indian Couture Week celebrated a decade of fashion amidst glitz, glamour, and star power. Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh shared a good laugh as they sashayed down the ramp in Manish Malhotra while Shilpa Shetty stunned in Monisha Jaising.
Every year, the ICW 2017, sees the crème da la crème of India’s fashion fraternity to come together and present the best of the best.
Here are our top picks from India Couture Week.
Manav Gangwani’s collection told a story of Indian royalty and gods, but it was Disha Patani who stole the show. She looked striking in a black fringe blouse and a lehnga decorated with horse and elephant motifs. Have a look at the antique silver details juxtaposed against striking royal blue velvet and appreciate it.
Redefining elaborate details on the runway. @manavgangwani Thank you @paayalgs for putting in so much effort, to match the jewellery to the outfits! #MG #ManavGangwani #ManavGangwaniCouture #MGCouture #CoutureMG #ManavGangwaniIndia #MGIndia #MGMA #MeMyBoys #MeMyGirls #MeMyShow #SelectiveParticipation #IndiaAt70 #ADecadeOfCouture #ICW2017 #MGMan #MGWoman #IndiaCoutureWeek #fashionshow #instastyle #instacouture #walktheramp #hautecouture
Each piece seems to tell its own story with edgy, out of the ordinary silhouettes!

Bal’s collection Shahaan-e-Khaas was opulent but not gaudy. His ode to unsung artisans and their crafts consisted of a monochrome colour palette paired with intricate workmanship.
Age is really a number for Arjun Rampal, who looked handsome as ever in a black sherwani.
The bold lip colour and pulled back hair complemented the heavily embellished structured coats by Bal.
Bal’s collection exuded a majestic, ceremonial charm!
This man needs no introduction and we’re sure his collection would have dazzled even without the stars that walked the ramp for him, but Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh took the grand finale to another level.
Bhatt walked out adorned in a heavy blouse and plunging neckline paired with an unusual tulle lehenga bordered with scattered roses. The collection, Sensual Affair, broke loose from the typical Manish Malhotra bridals.
This white ensemble here is embodiment of the title: Sensual Affair. We spot Malhotra’s signature sequins and fringes, along with ruffles, feathers and a whole lot of shimmer!
Gaurav Gupta presented a shimmering collection called Moondust at ICW 2017, and boy did it shine! Thankfully, it was neither blinding nor garish! His pieces were feminine and flouncy yet structured.
Aditi Rao graced the runway in a gorgeous silver gown adorned with metallic embroidery. Yup, all that silver that you see is all metal.
From the jagged edges to the ruffled neckline, this grey piece has everything going for it.
We love this designer’s take on the traditional banarsi silk. The bright red colour, sweetheart neckline (on one side) and the almost over-the-top puffed sleeve (not to mention the trail) worn by Shilpa Shetty, redefined the bridal look.
Even though it ran the risk of being a bit too OTT, Shetty carried it off gracefully and looked like a million bucks!
The rest of the collection was a mix of daring and sensual with both bold and delicate colours and sexy silhouettes.
But it is this gold gown, that has our heart.
Also this outfit is a perfect example of using different textures. It can serve as a perfect companion for a destination wedding and the top can be worn with denims and skirts.
