Whether it’s to cover up a pimple, acne scars, pigmentation or dark circles, there’s no denying the power of a good concealer. What is this proverbial ‘good’ concealer and where can you find it? A good concealer should be blend-able, crease-free and long-lasting. Yes, that’s a lot to ask from a minuscule tube but that’s how it is. And to answer the latter part of the question, you can find these magical concealers at any drugstore!
Since high end concealers are a bit too pricey (considering you need your concealer every single day), we are continuously on the hunt for affordable gems.
The good news is that our hunt was successful and we got hold of four concealers that stay put.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind
We can safely say that this is the Holy Grail for all makeup lovers. It has medium to full coverage so there’s no need to cake it on. Look for the shade called ‘neutralizer’ which is perfect for desi tones with its yellow undertones. It comes with a sponge applicator which makes blending easier.
The matte finish is perfect for our hot and humid climate.
Pro tip: Use a beauty sponge in a light tapping motion to blend the concealer into the skin, and finish with a light dusting of setting powder to seal it for the day.
LA Girl Pro HD Concealer
This little tube comes in 21 shades, which ultimately means that there’s a shade for every skin tone out there!
The medium- full coverage is buildable and perfect for both, natural or full glam finish. Its narrow brush tip applicator is perfect for spot treatments and the satin/matte finish is crease-proof, so don’t fret if you have a long day ahead.
Pro tip: Apply a light-weight moisturizer before you apply makeup.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer
We’re just going to go ahead and say it, we love thick concealers because a little goes a long way. The Healthy Mix is great for more problematic skin with acne and purple-toned dark circles.
It is buildable and great for oily skin and stays on without creasing.
Rimmel Match Perfection
This is a true drugstore gem that nobody talks about ever and we wonder why. The creamy formula is great for summers and stays put after being set with loose powder.
Grab the yellow shades to cancel out dark circles and pigmentation but don’t forget to get the lighter shades too! They’re great for highlighting the center of the forehead, bridge of the nose, and chin.
The best part? This one doesn’t crease at all.
Pro tip: Look up, not straight or down when blending under the eyes. This way the formula won’t settle into the fine lines.
Stay tuned for our next bunch of budget buys!
