Have you ever planned to abandon the city life, head up to the Himalayas, and spend the rest of the life as a blissful Yogi? We have. It is our favourite pass time. There is a certain calmness that engulfs the term, Yoga, and who wouldn’t want to de-stress and feel calm in this crazy world?

Yoga, originated in ancient India, refers to a broad variety of physical, mental, and spiritual practices that is meant to strengthen our body and soul. If you are a Yoga novice, here’s everything you need to know.

Who can or should try it?

Anyone from kids to adults to the elderly can give yoga a go if they’re looking to add some discipline to their lives, are feeling burnt out, or maybe even just looking for a new hobby.

How is it good for me?

Yoga has multiple benefits, but some that attract us towards this form of exercise are:

  • Increased flexibility.
  • Increased muscle strength and tone.
  • Improved respiration, energy, and vitality.
  • Maintaining a balanced metabolism.
  • Weight reduction.
  • Improved cardiac and circulatory health.
  • Improved athletic performance.
  • Protection from injury.

Where can I enroll?

If you’re in Karachi, go for Studio X. They offer Lunch Hour Yoga from 1-2pm with Amafah Mubashir, who is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher.

There is also Kamila Adnan at Karachi Ladies Club who offers evening classes of Core Power Yoga every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15 -7:00pm.

In Lahore there is Soul Yoga in DHA, which offers evening classes from 5pm with Saba Rana – a Yoga Alliance certified teacher. For other locations (Yoga Lounge & Route 2 Studio, Gulberg) check out the Instagram post below.
