Go subtle on your eyes with pastel pink and matte gold. Wait, scratch that! It’s time to revisit your makeup stash and bring the metallic eyeshadows into the forefront. Yes, mattes have had their moments of glory this spring and so have the glittering golds. We are talking about pure metals here. The ones that could put your brand new Honda City to shame.
Metallic eyeshadows come in a variety of textures; from creamy ones to soft pigmented powders. If you like to call yourself a trendsetter, hop on as we decode different looks that can be created through this small magical pot.
How to pull off a metallic eyeshadow?
First up, make sure your eyeshadow is super pigmented. A half hearted attempt at metallic eyes may result in your friends asking you if you’ve got a bruise? And we don’t want that.
If you plan to wear metallic eyeshadow during the day, opt for a powder based metallic eyeshadow. Go all out at night and use a cream based one! Of course, you will have to make sure you choose the correct metallic shade for your skin tone because you don’t want to wear a color that doesn’t complement your complexion.
What’s the right shade for you?
People with fair skin can use metallic silvers and platinum shades. Those who have olive or yellow skin tones can pull off metallic golds and bronze shades. And there’s an awesome news for those who have slightly darker skin tones because they can pull off ALL shades!
Here are a few ways and brands that you can use to rock the metallic look!
This shade complements each and every skin tone and is trending as much as the rose gold iPhone! Try getting your hands on NYX Cosmetics Pigments in the shade ‘Stunner’. All you have to do is put on some brown eyeshadow, blend in a rose gold metallic eyeshadow at the center of your eyelid, and dab a little under your eyes to really make them stand out!
For this look, apply matte nude eyeshadow to your lids first, then take a fluffy brush and add the metallic nude shadow to the center of your lid and blend away. One of the best nude metallic shadow comes in Lancôme Le Metallique Liquid Eyeshadow in the shade ‘Bronze Rivage’.
Use a metallic gold liner to draw a thin line on the bottom of your lashes. If you want to make it a bit bolder, then you can draw a line on top of your eyelid and add a line of a black eyeliner. Don’t forget to apply oodles of black mascara to finish the look!
For this look you can use the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Crystal Body Liner in the shade ‘Crystal Gold’.
Blue Cat Eye
This blue cat eye metallic look will really make your eyes pop. It is perfect for the night! Start off by drawing an extended cat eye swoosh with a navy-blue liner and then apply your metallic eyeshadow on the line and smudge it out for a more dramatic look.
You can use the shade ‘Heroine’ which comes in Urban Decay’s Shadow Box Nocturnal or you can use the L’OREAL Paris’ Infallible Paints Eyeshadow in the shade ‘Aqua Aura’. You can always blend both of them for an even more intense look!
Start off by patting black powder onto the upper and lower lash lines of your eye and smudge it a little. You can use the Giorgio Armani Life is a Cruise Sunset Eye Palette to create this. Then tap on metallic silver eyeshadow in the center of your eyelid and on the lower lash line! You can try out the Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow Pan Palette in the shade ‘Paris in Spring’.
