The Star Of How To Get Away With Murder Speaks About Her Rape
Sexual assault is nothing rare and we are all fairly aware of that. One day it’s some little girl and the other it’s a grown woman- age is just a number. Although, sexual assault is something most of us women have faced at least once in our life (sadly). If you’re lucky enough to not have gone through that mental and physical trauma, you should be glad.
Recently, Karla Souza as knows as Laurel Castillo in ABC’s hit series ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ reveled that she was raped by a director in early stages of her career. This is the first time Souza opened up about it publicly. The actress did not mention the name of the filmmaker, but she did state that it occurred during a movie shoot in Mexico. She also added that she and the director were staying at a separate hotel then the cast and crew.
In an interview with CNN en Español, the actress stated, “He knocked at my door saying he wanted to go over some scenes and I thought its 2 a.m., it’s not appropriate and it’s something that shouldn’t be happening,” Souza said.
She mentioned that the director was unfair with her and refused to shoot her in the scenes, plus he used to disgrace her in front of others which were nothing that she expected.
She also added that, “This was the psychological control that he held over me,”, “I ended up giving in to him,” Souza said. “[I let him] kiss me, touch me in ways I did not want him to touch me and in one of those instances, he attacked me violently and yes, he raped me.”
Love to @KarlaSouza7…for your courage, your heart and for standing in your WORTH!
