Tackling Dry Skin in Summers

Dry skin only in winters? You wish. Funny enough weather actually has nothing to do with your skin type. People catch flu in summers, imagine! See, in summers the weather gets hot and just like our body, our skin gets thirsty too. When we get thirsty our throat tends to itch, the same way our skin has requirements as well. Be honest, how much is your water intake each day? There are more soft drinks in us than actual blood!

DON’T OVER EXFOLIATE


Take care of your skin, but remember there is always a limit to everything and when you cross that, it leads to more harm instead of benefit. Scrub your face, maximum thrice a week, not more than that please. This way your skin’s natural oil remains untouched.

CLEANSER


Use a cleanser that suits you. Do not opt for one that your best friend said is good. Its not necessary that you and her have the same skin type. Rule number 1: if your skin feels tight after cleansing you need to switch!

MOISTURIZER IS YOUR LIFE SAVER!


We have a misconception that moisturizer is good only till winters and that is the only time our skin needs moisturizing. The heat in this summer tends to dehydrate one’s skin, hence keep a light face cream handy for a good moistuirzed skin.

TOWELS- A NO NO


Surely, you wipe your face with that soft towel but you know where that leaves you? It leaves you with dry skin! So what to do? Either use tissues smoothly or wipe your hands and then gently pat your face dry.

NO LONG HOT SHOWER


Hot showers may feel good but they do you no good. Long steamy showers tend to dry out skin by washing off the skin’s natural oils. It’s already so hot, how can someone even imagine having a bath with warm water? A cool shower will leave your skin’s natural oil intact and also make you feel fresh!

TIMER ON AIR CONDITION


Air conditioners suck the moisture and humidity out of the air, which lead to dry-looking skin in the summer. No, matter how fine that chilled room experience is, please do not spend your entire day in a cold room!

FACIAL MIST- A MUST HAVE


When the skin starts feeling parched and dry, spray on a facial mist and keep your skin hydrated.

DRINK WATER


We cannot emphasize enough on this. DRINK WATER! What you have in your body is more important than what you apply. If you don’t eat healthy and have the right amount of water then no matter how hard you try, your skin is not getting any better.
