Pakistani Drama Serials That Are Worth A Real Watch

The Pakistani drama industry has gone through a major update and we’re finally moving ahead of clichéd storylines revolving around an innocent, fragile woman facing hardships at the hands of her evil mother in law and getting to see some mature work. As the directors decide to explore more serious issues some incredible dramas have hit the Pakistani screens leaving the audiences completely awestruck.

Here are our picks of Pakistani drama serials that are definitely worth the watch:

Akhiri Station:

A Sarmad Khoosat production Akhiri station focuses on the unheard stories of courageous Pakistani women who make it out of their troubles all on their own. Every episode of this serial depicts a different story and each one is bound to leave you in tears.



Khudgarz is based on the importance of mental health and dealing with abuse at the hands your close ones. This Amina Sheikh starrer with its twists and turns will have you hooked.



Produced in collaboration with Kashf foundation Udaari touches on the incredibly sensitive topic of sexual abuse on a child. Bushra Ansari and Urwa Hocane played the lead characters for Udaari alongside Ahsan Khan, giving some powerful performances. This drama is an eye-opener for sure.



Based on Indo Pak partition, Daastan focuses on the numerous sacrifices families gave for the creation of our great nation. Revolving around the story of a young girl “Bano” and her struggle to migrate to Pakistan, this one is a tear jerker for sure.



A must watch, Baaghi is based on the true story of Pakistani internet star Qandeel Baloch who was murdered by her brother for bringing dishonor to the family. The extraordinary direction and Saba Qamar’s acting as “Kanwal Baloch” make Baaghi one of the best drama serials to have been aired onscreen.


Dar si jaati hai Sila:

Dar si jaati hai Sila’s storyline is based on the theme of emotional blackmail, sexual harassment and victim blaming. The drama stands out for the bold subjects it talks about.



Based on Umaira Ahmed’s novel  Daam revolves around the story of two friends. The main focus remains on class struggle “Zahra” is subjected to as she tries to make a career for herself.


Jackson Heights:

Jackson heights with it’s versatile story line and amazing cast is definitely worth a watch. Talking about the struggles of a desi immigrant Jackson heights is true emotional roller coaster that is not to be missed.



Shehr-e-zaat focuses on the story of a young girl “Falak” who comes from a privileged background and struggles to find spirituality and connection with God.


Humsafar presents a not so typical love story of two people with personalities that are poles apart but find love after they get tied in marriage upon insistence of their family.
