The 71st Cannes film festival is finally on a roll and all eyes are on the red carpet. Amongst all the A-list Hollywood celebrities who are seen at the event, the B-town beauties are certainly not ones to go unnoticed. After the Cannes’ regular Loreal girls; Ashwariya Rai, Sonam Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone it is now Kangna Ranaut who will be making her debut at the most prestigious event of the international film industry. The actress when asked about her attendance at the festival said, “I’ve been invited to accompany Smriti Irani (Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting) and Prasoon Joshi (Chairman, Central Board of Film Certification) at the India Pavilion at Cannes this year.”
The loud and proud Kangna has always blown her fans away with her versatile looks and out of the box outfit choices. For one of her most signification appearances, the “fashion” star was definitely not ready to beat around the bush. And boy, did she get it right!
Kangna showed up in an exquisite, sultry black saari with a skimpy blouse and stole the show! She opted to pair her stunning Sabyasachi piece with a classic retro look. The winged out eyeliner and faux bob given to her by makeup artist Brendon Degee and a pearl choker from Sabyasachi heritage jewelry collection added all that extra oomph, not that there was any missing in the first place.
But that’s not what the Cannes is all about for Kangna, as the actress went on to say, “The essence has become expression oriented — the focus is indeed on what you wear and speak and how you conduct yourself at events and discussions. I will put my best foot forward for the festival. We have an international stylist on board and apart from international looks; I will also wear something Indian on the red carpet since I am representing my country. However, focussing only on fashion at Cannes reduces its scope dramatically. It’s the same with artists when they are reduced to a glossy image and not seen as people with their own kind of potential. Cannes is a lot more than a mere red carpet event.”
Alongside Kangna another Bollywood beauty Huma Qureshi is going to be seen walking the red carpet also in association with the Indian Pavillion. Huma missed the audio launch of her film with Rajinikanth to make her appearance at The Cannes. As for her look, the actress chose to wear a white crochet dress by Varul Bhal.
