Yanny Or Laurel?

Ah, it’s the great internet debate all over again, remember “The dress” from 2016 that had everyone quarreling over its color on the internet for weeks? (It was blue and black by the way). Well, an audio version of the debate is here and people have gone crazy deciding what they hear. Yanny or Laurel?

Even the celebrities are taking the topic seriously and have picked sides. Ellen Degeneres tweeted that her entire show stopped because no one could decide on one answer.

While Ellen is clearly team Laurel, writer Stephen King is team Yanny. Well, until he became team Laurel too.

Other members of team Laurel include Chrissy Teigen and Zach Braff of “Scrubs.”

Whereas on team Yanny is Sarah Hyland from “Modern Family, and Mindy Kaling.

But if you’re not on any of the two teams, don’t worry because you’re not alone.

Actress Emmy Rossum says she hears both “Yanny” and “Laurel.”

And Ruby Rose hears neither.

The entire debate started when Katie Hetzel, a freshman at Flowery Branch High School in Georgia, looked up the word “Laurel” on vocabulary.com and upon playing the audio heard “Yanny.” Boggled by what she heard, the student asked her friends for their answers, “I asked my friends in my class and we all heard mixed things,” said Katie. She then put the audio recording on her Instagram story, which was reposted by Fernando Castro in form of an Instagram poll.

Reddit user RolandCamry, a friend of Castro, then put up the clip on Reddit and asked others for their answers. It was picked from Reddit by Youtuber Cloe Feldman who shared it on Twitter and since then the clip has spread all over the internet.

While the debate has left the internet torn, the correct answer to the question is in fact,”Laurel.”
