Afreen Afreen Breaks The Previous Records
Previously, Coke Studio hit qawali, Tajdar-e-Haram, sung by Atif Aslam, crossed over 182 million views.
Now that record has been broken by yet another Coke Studio track. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Momina Mustehsan’s Coke Studio Season 8 rendition of Afreen Afreen has set a new record after crossing 200 million views on YouTube. This track came out in 2016.
Afreen Afreen has been loved by all till date, this qawali has been heard since forever. New versions to it keep coming out, new upcoming artists usually make covers on NFAK’s qawalis.
The Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s original becomes the first Pakistani song to have acquired the highest views, breaking all previous records of local compositions.
Momina shared a video of herself on Instagram with Rahat, singing the song. Coca Cola Tu singer captioned it, “Thank you everyone for your love and support! Afreen becomes the first song in Pakistan to cross 200 million views.”
The pair thanked Coke Studio, Strings and Javed Sheikh (who penned the lyrics for this version of the song).
