Pakistani Element In Indian Movies

For a very long time there have been tensions between Pakistan and India and this tension seems to exist in all areas such as political, social, religious etc. however there is still one area left which is working towards releasing this tension between the two countries and showing that they could co-exist together and that is through the entertainment industry. Recently, many movies have been produced which include Pakistani actors and culture in the Indian cinema, though Pakistani hasn’t included any of the Indian actors yet, it still shows that there is an effort being made. Films such as “Raees” with Mahira Khan and Shahrukh Khan, “Meray brother ki Dulhan” featuring  Ali Zafar, Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan, “Khoobsurat” with Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor. In some films Indian actors portray themselves as Pakistani characters for example Katrina Kaif will be portraying a Pakistani dancer who competes against Varun Dhawan who plays an Indian dancer in an international dance competition in London and the two meet there in the upcoming film “ABCD 3” which will be released in 2019.

We can already see how much the film industry is striving to merge both cultures and lifestyles together and show that despite their differences the two countries can still work together to progress forward, Indian films don’t always present Pakistan as dangerous and violent but it also shows its beauty in the northern areas such as in the film “Bajrangi Bhaijan”, in which Salman Khan travels all the way to Pakistan to return a mute girl to her family, in the film they show her house in the beautiful mountainous areas of Pakistan

These films have the power to change our perspective about the current relationship of Pakistan and India and how it can evolve into a better one by simply accepting the Indians way of life and respecting it instead of pointing out the differences and then discriminating them. Through the entertainment industry, we should learn to cooperate and have an understanding with each other, there are many similarities between the two countries which we should focus on more which will help us improve not just the entertainment industry but also other areas such as political, economic, social etc. Since the Indian film industry and its celebrities have welcomed Pakistani actors and actresses, including new acts as well, the Pakistani film industry should also invite Bollywood acts or could also portray Indian characters to show that we have also put the differences aside.
