Pure Organic Beauty with Orgocare

Women’s Own reached out to Mehreen Khan, C.E.O of Orgocare which is a pioneering beauty company that brings organic traditional beauty from around the world to Pakistan and asked her all about their work! Orgocare is also the only supplier of African Black Soap in Pakistan.

W.O: Talk to me about your qualifications and your journey into establishing Orgocare.

M.K: I’m a corporate lawyer by profession and have always been interested in organic beauty products. While working in Zimbabwe, a co-worker introduced me to the magic of Shea Butter and I was hooked. It had to be brought home to Pakistan! When I moved back in 2016, I was able to set up Orgocare (Private) Limited and make it all happen.

W.O: Tell me a little about Orgocare and the idea behind the company. How did you come up with the idea of launching a skin care brand?

M.K: Starting a beauty related line was my dream since I was a young girl, and being the daughter of a career diplomat, I had the privilege of experiencing and enjoying natural, traditional beauty products from various parts of the world.  I felt there was definitely gap in the market for such products in Pakistan.

W.O: What are the different products that people can find at Orgocare and how do they go about placing an order? Do you have an outlet?

M.K: We currently provide African Black Soap, Moroccan Argan Oil, Dead Sea Mud, and a range of Shea butters which include our classic Shea butter, anti-acne Shea Butter, whitening Shea butter, and anti-ageing Shea Butter. We do not have an outlet but are available at selected stores in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and also online at www.orgocare.com. We ship nationwide.

W.O: what would you say are your best selling items and why? Also, tell me a little about your pricing policy and about those products.

M.K: African Black Soap is definitely the best-selling item because it is multi-purpose and the results can be felt immediately. Other than this, Shea Butter is also much loved by our consumers.

Basically, the black soap is traditionally made according to a centuries old secret West African recipe from locally harvested plants and barks which are packed with Vitamin A, E and Iron. Its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties make it highly effective against acne, blackheads and blemishes, while antioxidants protect the skin from damage and fading dark spots. Black soap is especially recommended for those with known allergies and skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. It retails for only Rs. 300.

Shea butter is a natural plant extract derived from the nut of the Karite Tree or ‘Tree of Life” which grows throughout West Africa. It contains an exceptionally high content of essential irremovable fatty acids, which play a vital role in moisturizing, softening, fighting inflammation, and renewing coetaneous skin cells. By incorporating essential oils into raw Shea Butter, we have created a variety of formulas that boost the natural properties of Shea butter and cater to specific skin requirements.

As far as pricing is concerned, we aim to keep our products affordable because quality organic beauty does not have to cost an arm and a leg!

W.O: Talk to me about your own skincare routine. What is that like?

M.K: Well, “less is more” has always been my mantra. I wash my face with African Black Soap, moisturize with classic Shea butter and Argan oil all over my face and body at night, and mask weekly. For warmer days, I use a water-based moisturizer during the day and top it off with sunscreen and I am good to go!

W.O: Why do you think organic skincare products are becoming more and more important these days?

M.K:  Harsh chemicals in products can severely mess with your skin’s delicate pH balance, and people are becoming fed up with the never-ending cycle of using product upon product to combat skin care issues. We are all starting to realize that skin too deserves care with minimalistic, quality organic beauty products, in the same way that your body deserves the nourishment of organic food.

W.O: What’s in store for the future for Orgocare? Give a message for our readers as well.

M.K. Always remember the golden rule to Orgocare beauty: A little goes a long way! We are looking to expand our product line, so stay tuned!
